The One and Only
The One and Only
Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth. For I am God, and there is no other. (Isa. 45:22)
What to Believe?
The world offers a smorgasbord of religions, with wildly different views of God. Some teach that there is but one supreme being (monotheism), while others are of “the more, the merrier” school of thought (polytheism). In contrast to the religious chaos that engulfs the globe, the true Supreme Being, revealed in the pages of the Bible, makes this declaration: “No god was formed before Me, and there will be none after Me” (Isa. 43:10). He is the one true and living God, above all other lesser gods.
No Ambiguity
In today’s verse God invites “all the ends of the earth” to turn to Him alone to be saved. He understands that there is rampant religious confusion and a cacophony of truth claims. But into this confusion He speaks with perfect clarity: “There is no other God but Me, a righteous God and Savior; there is no one except Me” (Isa. 45:21). He has no competition. There is no one else in His league.
Furthermore, He is not hiding from us. He sent Jesus to be the “light of the world” (John 8:12) and beckons us to come to the One who died for us and rose again from the grave so that we could be rescued from our sin and misery. With the revelation of Jesus, all religious searching can come to an end. He calls everyone to turn to Him for salvation.
Bottom Line
Once we turn to the one true God as revealed in the Bible, our search for the source of truth, life, and meaning is over. It’s all found in Him.
