Dwell on These Things
Dwell on These Things

Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things. (Phil. 4:8)
Glory Hunters
How is your eyesight these days? Are you making a concerted effort to see the world clearly, which is to say, as God sees it? Be assured, if you’re not intentionally letting in plenty of God-light through exposure to His Word, you’re bound to be stumbling around in the dark, and that’s no way to live.
Philippians 4:8 is a prescription for godly thinking and for happiness. Basically it says to look for what’s good in the world. In other words, be a full-time glory hunter! Yes, it’s true, this world is terribly broken, and ugliness surrounds us. But that’s not the whole story. There are also traces of God’s goodness everywhere. And here’s the thing: we can choose what we focus on! That simple truth, that simple practice, has the power to revolutionize your life.
My, How You’ve Grown
This “dwell on these things” lifestyle is such a simple concept, we probably don’t appreciate it enough. But what we focus on will grow. Think how it is when you’re in the market for a certain car. You start to notice them everywhere. What if you were in the market for God’s goodness, glory, and grace? You’d start to see it everywhere!
Bottom Line
By God’s grace, you can control what you think about. Why not think the best things? Why not dwell on the best things?
