Guaranteed Victory
Guaranteed Victory

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom should I be afraid? (Ps. 27:1)
Triumph
If the world does its worst to you, you still win because the Lord is the stronghold of your life. The worst the world can do to a Christian is kill him, and death only assures the believer an even more epic reward when he is welcomed into heaven. The Bible is filled with stories of men of faith who sometimes had great victories (David trounced Goliath) but who also “lost” by human standards (John the Baptist was beheaded). Hebrews 11 summarizes a lot of these stories. In all these accounts of faith, the men who placed their trust in God triumphed even if they “lost” in the faith-deprived eyes of the world.
War Zone
The Bible makes it clear that the human race is caught up in a cosmic battle between good and evil. There is no neutral territory. It should therefore not surprise us when we take fire from those who oppose God. Many of the apostles died for the faith, and many of our fellow believers around the world suffer severe persecution for the “crime” of following Jesus. Even if you are not physically attacked, the devil is waging a war against your faith. God does not promise us smooth sailing or victory by earthly standards, but we are assured of being “more than victorious” (Rom. 8:37) when God calls us home to our reward. So hang in there and keep fighting. You’re fighting from victory toward victory.
Bottom Line
We are in an intense spiritual battle, but our ultimate victory has already been won by Jesus. In the stuff that really matters, you cannot possibly lose.
