Old Faithful
Old Faithful

He remains faithful forever. (Ps. 146:6)
Who Is the Greatest?
Geysers are plentiful in Yellowstone National Park, but the most famous is named Old Faithful. Other geysers shoot the water higher, others are more spectacular, but Old Faithful is the most visited. Why? Because it is faithful. It erupts every hour. You can count on it.
Such is God. He is faithful. God, eternal and unlimited, stands in stark contrast to humans, temporal and limited. The psalmist knows of God’s consistency, that the Lord “remains faithful forever” (Ps. 146:6). In contrast to humans who tend not to keep their word, God always keeps His word. He always fulfills His promises. We can always count on Him.
Whom Will You Trust?
We all have to face the question—where do I put my trust? We have two alternatives, either to trust people (including ourselves) or to trust God. Most of us, if we’re honest, would admit we spend most of our time trusting other people: financial planners with our money, government officials for our laws, professors with our education, doctors with our health. And sometimes these people fail us because they are flawed just as we are.
If everything fell apart in your life, who would you turn to first? Would you turn to family and friends, or would you turn to God? Look first to your heavenly Father.
Bottom Line
Trusting in God is the only way to live because He is the only One who is completely trustworthy.
