Source of Provision
Source of Provision

Our Father in heaven . . . give us today our daily bread. (Matt. 6:9, 11)
Doing Your Best
Every day we hear or read about our struggling economy. Even for those secure in their jobs with a stable source of income, there’s an air of uncertainty about what lies ahead. Certainly keeping (or finding) a job is necessary if we are to provide for our families. And we accept that we may have to make some sacrifices and trade-offs to do it well, like personal relaxation or time to spend on outside activities—even good activities. But we must be careful to avoid letting this noble pursuit be what defines us and drives us.
Seeking God’s Best
Scripture gives many examples of those who push beyond their worries and circumstances to find God. A common factor in each story is a conversation of some sort between God and man. Dedicated, intentional time in the Word and prayer is essential if we truly want to know God and receive the peace and provision He promises.
So don’t let your time with God today end with this devotional. Spend some time in prayer telling God exactly what’s on your heart. He already knows, of course, but a lot of times you don’t really know until you start praying! Remember, God wants you to ask for His help. He wants you to engage with Him. Let Him speak to you through His Word.
Bottom Line
Blessing follows obedience, and obeying God requires hearing His direction. Cultivate your prayer life and learn to discern God’s voice.
