Marriage Fight
Marriage Fight

Show some courage and be men. . . . Be men and fight! (1 Sam. 4:9)
A Fight Worth Having
Normally the words fight and marriage don’t go together well when it comes to defining a Christ-honoring relationship. But while most men need no encouragement to fight with their wives, virtually all men need encouragement to fight for them.
If we really believe marriage is a sacred institution given by God and representing the love of God for His church, then we ought to be warriors for the one who happens to live under our own roof. Too often, though, we’re passive bystanders, allowing the enemies of busyness, selfishness, and pride to win battles God has equipped us to win.
How to Be Victorious
Know that the weapons you employ in this fight are different from those wielded by the world. You fight with humility, selflessness, and love. A man of God who models Christlike sacrifice and service will win the heart of his wife. When he offers a listening ear, when he leads in the home, when he treasures his wife’s desires, he invests in the long-term success of his marriage. Their relationship becomes untouchable to the enemy. That man is doing things God’s way.
How does a husband begin the march to marital victory? He begins by engaging the battle, by examining his priorities, and asking himself a singular, probing question: Am I willing to fight for what I love?
Bottom Line
God has called every man to engage in the fight for a great marriage. Are you fighting for yours?
