Bond Servant of Christ, Part 3
Bond Servant of Christ, Part 3

Don’t work only while being watched, in order to please men, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. (Eph. 6:6)
All for the Name
The main concern of a bond servant was to enhance his master’s name and reputation. His actions reflected his master’s household and his standing in the business community. In fact, a bond servant wasn’t merely referred to by his first name. Instead, he would be referred to as the slave of his master, and whatever he did had some sort of impact on his master’s prestige. Everything he did mattered.
In Luke 11:23, Jesus said: “Anyone who is not with Me is against Me, and anyone who does not gather with Me scatters.” You are either gathering or scattering; you are either drawing people closer to Jesus by the way you live, or you are pushing them away. The quality of your work, the integrity of your word, the honesty of your actions—all this and more is your nonverbal witness. There’s no riding the fence on this one.
Everything in View
To live your life to impress others with outward signs of spirituality is arrogance and hypocrisy. Our goal as bond servants is to serve God’s purposes for our lives from our innermost being, whether anyone notices or not. Just be assured, your Master sees all you do in His name, and His rewards in the end will make the rewards of this world look like so much sand. To live for His glory and not your own is what it’s all about.
Bottom Line
Live to please God, not men. This can only be done as we maintain an awareness that we are always representing our Savior.
