The Right Hand

Mountains

Save with Your right hand, and answer me, so that those You love may be rescued. (Ps. 60:5)

Right-hand Promises

So you’ve picked the rice out of your hair and you’re back from the honeymoon. It may have been two weeks ago or twenty years ago. But whatever the preacher said went in one ear and out the other. After all, your shoes were killing you, you were nervous and sweating, you were worried about what your buds would do to your car, and she was so beautiful!

You can be excused for forgetting your marriage sermon. But when it was time for the vows, chances are the pastor had you face your bride and hold her right hand. What is the significance of that?

God’s Right Hand

When God gives us His right hand, He gives us all the resources at His disposal, including His ability to save us according to His love for us. Being at God’s right hand is a position of honor and power reserved for the Lord Jesus Christ Himself: “But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Power of God” (Luke 22:69).

Have you given your right hand to your wife, and does she know it? Does she realize all your resources belong to her too, or do you hold some back for yourself in a separate account? Do you show her off in a crowd, or does she have to walk ten feet behind you, trying to catch up with your fast gait? Does she know she has your “all” just for the asking?

Bottom Line

Give your right hand to your bride daily. She needs to know that everything you have is hers.
