Anxiety
Anxiety

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. (Ps. 55:22)
Me? Worry?
Worry is what happens when you structure your life around temporal things. If you can misplace it, if markets can devour it, if rust can wreck it, or if thieves can steal it, don’t anchor your joy to it. Jesus advised, “Collect for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matt. 6:20). You cannot fall in love with stuff and expect stable emotions. Stuff goes away. Treasures in heaven do not.
When Jesus took His disciples out on a boat and a storm blew in, they panicked. They found Him sleeping and accused Him of not caring. Their worry revealed a broken trust in God. Jesus rebuked them with questions: “Why are you fearful? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40).
Burden Casting
Wise Christians express their faith by casting their anxieties on God. Only He can carry the weight of your happiness. Your wife or girlfriend can’t. Your kids can’t. Your career and portfolio can’t. God wants you to structure your life—all of it—around Him. There is no other way to lasting peace.
When you’re tempted to worry, remind yourself of God’s unchanging character. Rejoice in the fact that He loves you and wants the best for you. Rehearse the truth that He always knows what He’s doing and never makes mistakes. Choose to believe He’s powerful enough to help you handle life’s biggest challenges.
Bottom Line
Hold all things in this world lightly; hold God and treasures in heaven tightly.
