Perfect Peace

Mountains

You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace, for it is trusting in You. (Isa. 26:3)

Peace Is Possible

The alarm goes off and the race begins. You rush to get ready for work, maybe scarfing down a quick breakfast if you can, your mind already thinking of all the things you need to get done today. Then you enter the rush of traffic. Why you’re competing with other drivers, you don’t know. But by the time you arrive at work, you’re already a little revved up, maybe even a little agitated too. At least the adrenaline pumping through your veins will help you get stuff done, because you have a lot to do.

Obviously this scenario is not a recipe for living the day with a peaceful heart. When we live at breakneck speed all the time, experiencing the peace of God is all but impossible.

The Better Way

Most of us know we’re out of balance in this regard, but honestly, it can almost seem easier than slowing down and fixing our thoughts on God. Of course, that kind of thinking is practical atheism—living as if God doesn’t exist and can’t help us!

It’s time to change our thinking and living so we can experience the peace of God our hearts truly long for. How this happens for each of us will vary depending on circumstances. Ask God to show you some specific ways to help you change your pattern of living. Trust Him to help you.

Bottom Line

God’s peace is available to every Christian. It’s a matter of fixing our thoughts on Him and depending on Him in all things.
