Follow the Wise Men
Follow the Wise Men

Entering the house, they saw the child with Mary His mother, and falling to their knees, they worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Matt. 2:11)
Bring Him Gifts
No manger scene is complete without them. But many experts agree that the wise men didn’t see Jesus until He was a toddler in Bethlehem. No matter when these robed visitors met the Christ child, we can still learn a lot from their actions. They risked their lives on a long journey to bring treasures to the new king.
And not only should we be willing to risk everything for Jesus and fall to our knees in reverence for the one true God, but we should also act like the magi when we give gifts to the king.
Be a Wise Man
Look at their gifts: gold, myrrh, and frankincense. By giving God our gold, we help fund His work. Monetary gifts to churches and ministries spread God’s truth around the world. In Jesus’ day, myrrh was believed to strengthen children. When we love our kids, encourage them with our words, and help them build a relationship with Jesus, we develop the next generation of Christ followers. Finally, frankincense was incense used for worship. God desires our worship not only on special holidays but throughout the year. The magi gave extravagant gifts to the king, and we should give extravagantly too.
Bottom Line
Follow the wise men’s example in giving God your finances, family, and worship. Do you need to work on giving any part of your life over to God?
