Perfectly True
Perfectly True

He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him. (Col. 1:22)
No More Guilt
When God says you’re “holy, faultless, and blameless,” He really means it. Of course, that’s not the same thing as saying you’re sinless, perfect, and awesome in terms of your everyday performance right now. Obviously each of us has some work to do before reaching a state of sinless perfection. (That will come in heaven.) But by gospel miracle, right this very minute, you are completely holy, faultless, and blameless in God’s eyes if you have received His forgiveness through faith in Christ.
God gives us Christ’s perfect record. He was holy, faultless, and blameless, and therefore so are we. You’ve heard that before. But don’t let this fact cause you to overlook the unbelievable blessing of the great exchange—our sin for Christ’s righteousness. It is the theological rock upon which a sturdy faith is built. If you’re going to stand firm, it will be because you understand the cross.
Feel This Truth in Your Bones
There is a huge difference between knowing a truth and really knowing it experientially. Our justification, our right standing with God, is meant to move us emotionally. Like Pilgrim in Pilgrim’s Progress, we can cast off any guilt and shame we’ve been carrying around and run free in God’s love and grace. That’s what God wants for us. We just need to believe it.
Bottom Line
Carrying around guilt and shame doesn’t make us more spiritual. It’s actually unbelief in God’s truth. Embrace what God says about you, and live free by the power of the gospel.
