Get in the Game
Get in the Game

“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:14)
No Holding Back
God wants us to pray like little children. Kids just say what’s on their mind, and they’re not afraid to ask for what they want . . . and then to keep asking. Far from being disrespectful, this kind of faithful persistence in prayer delights our heavenly Father. He longs to give His children good gifts (see Matt. 7:11). He is not put off by our neediness. After all, He knows perfectly well that we are completely dependent on Him for everything. In providing what we need, and often what we want, He shows Himself to be the ultimate giver. He is never reluctant to bless us.
In fact, His generosity is an expression of His glory, and our thankfulness for His good gifts reverberates back to Him in the form of more glory. But we’ve got to ask if we’re going to receive. We’ve got to get in the game unashamedly.
In Jesus’ Name
Obviously God doesn’t give us everything we want. We can be thankful for that because our prayers are sometimes unwise and selfish. But just because we’re imperfect and our motives are imperfect doesn’t mean we shouldn’t ask for what we want or pretend we’re more spiritually mature than we are. God wants to interact with the real us. When we spend time with Him, He has a way of changing our perspective so that our requests become more in line with His will. And when that’s the case, we can be sure He will answer.
Bottom Line
Understand that God doesn’t get tired of hearing from you. Ask, ask, and keep asking!
