God’s Help
God’s Help

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand. (Isa. 41:10)
The Cost of Fear
Fear is a terrible foe. It robs us of life and energy. It limits our thinking and steals our hope. It is the antithesis of faith, which increases courage, vitality, and optimism about the future. Unlike faith’s life-expanding influence, fear shrinks our ambitions; worse, it shrinks the size of our God down to nothing. He becomes almost irrelevant.
If we live in fear, we won’t even begin to tap into our God-given potential. Instead we’ll act like the unfaithful servant in Matthew 25:14–30 who decided that burying his talents was a safer course of action than investing them for the benefit of his master. According to Jesus, taking this approach to life is not just being cautious, it’s being evil and lazy.
The Illogic of Fear
Despite its terrible payoff, fear is actually a natural default. So many things out of our control could go wrong. But fear leaves God out of the equation—and if you’re one of God’s children, then God is never out of the equation. On the contrary, He is the answer to every challenge and perplexity life can throw at you. When God tells us not to fear, He also reminds us that He is with us to strengthen us and help us. So we need not fear. God is enough.
Bottom Line
Fear can ruin your life if you let it. Remind yourself that God is with you to strengthen you and help you. Fight fear with faith.
