Mountains

A man with many friends may be harmed, but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother. (Prov. 18:24)

Artie

Artie is the kind of friend who has your back. He’ll rejoice for friends in their successes, and he’ll walk with them through life’s valleys. Many times he and his wife have met with friends who needed counseling. On one occasion he took off for a weekend road trip with a pal from church who needed him.

And it hasn’t always been convenient or easy. Artie once stood in the rain for hours, working on an important project for a friend. He stayed by a sick friend’s hospital bedside. It meant the world to a buddy of his when Artie served as a pallbearer at the guy’s father’s funeral. In each and every instance, Artie was there to help.

Your Best Friend

You can call plenty of people “friends,” but who are the one or two guys who would be there for you when you need them the most? Who can you count on, no matter what? Those are the kinds of friends you need. The kind of guy who will help you out in a pinch, even at considerable inconvenience to himself.

A truly good friend won’t always agree with you. When you make a mistake, your friend will hold you accountable. But rather than judge or condemn, he will help you find your way through the darkness. That’s what a friend does. A friend is a friend in good times and in bad. A faithful friend is a great gift from God.
