First Things First
First Things First

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matt. 6:33–34)
The King on His Throne
No matter the type or magnitude of a problem, the Lord is always completely sovereign. Massive earthquake or monster hurricane? The Lord is in control. Uncontrollable oil spill? The King is on His throne. Ungodly politicians? The Master is unchallenged. Cancer or death? God is forever God. “No wisdom, no understanding, and no counsel will prevail against the Lord” (Prov. 21:30).
Sometimes we need to recognize His sovereignty in an area a little closer to home—our finances. It’s pretty easy to fall into worry, thinking that God can’t (or won’t) help. Regardless of your savings balance, the status of your 401(k), or the real estate market, God is fully in control. He is also fully loving, the perfect model of love, and the definition of love. So whether you have little or much, you could not possibly be in better hands.
A Little Perspective
This life is not about this world, nor is it about earthly kingdom-building. One day Jesus will call you home, and you will shed the burden of this world like a rain-swollen overcoat. The King will remove your worries from you as though they never were, for they will never come to your mind again. Live now in light of that future.
Bottom Line
Seek God first and always. He will provide for your every need. Put your faith in the One who is always faithful.
