Big Faith, Big God

Mountains

Jesus replied to them, “Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22)

Plane Truth

George wanted to fly his mother out for a summer visit. With a little research online, he found her a ticket on a fifty-seat commuter plane leaving from a nearby airport that connected to a larger plane in a major city. But when George called his mom, she hesitated.

“Do I have to fly in a commuter plane?” she asked. When he told her that those were the only planes that flew out of the airport closest to her, she said, “I don’t think this is a good time to come.”

“Well, if you drive an extra couple of hours to a bigger airport,” George said, “you can take a 777 wide body.” That’s all she needed to hear to change her mind.

Faith Factor

When George’s mom thought about the commuter plane, she didn’t have much faith in its safety. But she did trust the bigger plane. We often act the same way when it comes to God. Our faith in Him is related to how we see Him. In Mark 11:22, Jesus tells His disciples to “have faith in God.” A verse later Jesus says if you have the faith to move a mountain, it will move.

God deserves that much faith. His size is unfathomable. He is limitless. By having an accurate view of God, we’ll naturally have the faith we need to serve and trust Him wholly.

Bottom Line

We can have big faith because we serve a big God. And that faith can help us act boldly.
