Introduction

Our hope and prayer is that Stand Firm: Let Nothing Move You will help you to do just that—stand firm in a continually shifting world. We live in tumultuous, trying times. Life has always been difficult, but it’s hard to deny that the world is moving faster and faster these days. Change seems to be the only constant.

And yet God’s Word is an unchanging rock, suitable for all times and places and people. The Scriptures are ancient and contemporary, having been breathed out by the “Ancient of Days” (Dan. 7:22), who is “a helper who is always found in times of trouble” (Ps. 46:1). Our God and Father, “the One who is, who was, and who is coming” (Rev. 1:4) is able to guide us safely through this life and into the next as we learn to trust Him. He loves us (John 3:16) and has promised to do so (Prov. 3:5–6).

A good devotional book reminds us of these things, in big and small ways. It helps us keep the big picture in mind—God’s grace—as we go about our daily life, facing inevitable challenges at work and in relationships, as well as temptations, weakness, and pain, but also great joy and blessing. Our hope is that as you read these devotionals, you will read them through the lens of your Savior’s love for you, and His Spirit’s empowering you for joyful obedience. And we pray that they will increase your hunger for His unchanging Word of hope. Stand Firm, dear brothers, and let nothing move you.
