Inspiring Mother Breaks Down after Earning Golden Buzzer with Celine Dion Hit

Jeanick Fournier shows us that it is never too late to pursue your dreams. This 49-year-old palliative care worker and mother of two children who have Down Syndrome brought down the house with her incredible rendition of Celine Dion’s hit, “I Surrender.”

The song, “I Surrender” is a chart-topping hit that was released in the early 2000s. It’s a love song told from the perspective of a woman who cannot live without the love of her life.

There's so much life I've left to live
And this fire's burning still
When I watch you look at me

The lyrics are full of passion for what it is like to love and be deeply loved by someone.

Jeanick’s jaw-dropping performance is full of emotions as she hits every high octave with grace and poise. She may have even given Celine Dion a run for her money! What is even more inspiring after we learn she learned to speak English by watching many of the great performers of our day like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Barbra Streisand. Her singing career began when she was seven years old with a nun. She would also be found singing for her parents when all she had for an audience was her parents and a hairbrush for a mic.

After she brought down the house with her performance, the judges had to tell her just how incredible she was.

“Wow. Let me just say that this is what this show is about. You have so much talent.” Another judge added, “You are an angel. There aren't a lot of human beings like you and then you open your mouth and you sing like an Angel. And it came from another world.”

Since her performance first aired, it has gone viral with over a million views, and those who have witnessed her performance had a lot to say. One viewer commented, “First she is an amazing human being, an inspiring woman. Her choice to adopt two kids with Down Syndrome, her being grateful for the joy they give her and for what she learns from them, her open heart and huge authentic smile, her personality, an absolutely beautiful person.”

And we couldn’t agree more. We hope this performance and the story behind Jeanick’s rise to fame puts a smile on your face and warm your heart. We need more incredible, selfless human beings like Jeanick! Perhaps she truly is an angel living on Earth.
