It took songwriter Mark Lowry nearly 7 years to perfect the lyrics to the iconic song. But now, this holiday tune has become a modern day classic with countless covers and performances every single Christmas season.

“Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you”

Carrie became a household name after winning the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005. She won over the hearts of America with covers of songs such as Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and “Bless The Broken Road” from Rascal Flatts.

After her win, she quickly climbed the country charts and made a solid name for herself in the country music world. It’s been nearly 15 years since that momentous audition and Carrie is still releasing hit after hit.

And today’s beautiful performance of ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ is from Carrie’s first full-length Christmas album, My Gift.

“Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God”

What a beautiful way to remember the real reason for the season.

Luke 1:30 “And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.”
