Kay Robertson Has Experienced Health Comeback and Is ‘Doing Fantastic,’ Sons Say

The matriarch of the Duck Dynasty franchise has experienced a "health comeback" in recent months, according to her sons who add that she is doing well despite the passing of her husbandAl and Jase Robertson made the comments about their mother, Kay Robertson, this week on their podcast Unashamed, pushing back against rumors that she is in poor health. Her husband, Phil Robertson, died on May 25.

Sons Respond to Rumors about Kay Robertson’s Health

"There's some false, fake news," Jase Robertson said on the podcast.

False reports about her health apparently started when another brother, Willie Robertson, made a comment to a local reporter about his mother that was misinterpreted, Al said.

Kay Robertson is 77.

"At almost 80, most people, I mean, generally -- let's face it -- you got some struggles once you get close to that number," Jase said.

Both Al and Jase said their mother's health is good for her age.

"She's really thriving and doing fantastic," Al said. "She's been walking up the steps to my house. I mean, she's doing things I didn't know that she would do."

"Compared to six months ago, she's doing fantastic," Jase added.

The podcast was titled "Miss Kay's Health Comeback."

Miss Kay on Marriage, Faith, and Enduring Love

Kay Robertson was a mainstay on the show Duck Dynasty and has authored or co-authored several books, including Miss Kay's Duck Commander Kitchen: Faith, Family, and Food--Bringing Our Home to Your Table.

The story of her and Phil was brought to life in the 2023 movie, The Blind. The movie, she told Crosswalk Headlines prior to its release, has lessons for today's married couples. A marriage, she said, must involve not only a husband and wife but also God.

The movie tells the story of how Phil and Kay fell in love and ultimately persevered through a painful separation. Phil's struggles with anger and alcohol addiction form a central thread in the film.

"You need to have patience. That's what I had. You've got to believe that God can do all things -- all things," she said.
