‘The Chosen’ Unveils Season 5 Streaming Schedule on Prime Video

It won't be long before U.S. fans of The Chosen can watch Season 5 of The Chosen at home. Prime Video revealed the streaming rollout Friday, following its February announcement as the show's exclusive home.

Episodes 1-2 will enjoy their streaming debut June 15, followed by Episodes 3-5 June 22 and Episodes 6-8 concluding the season June 29. Seasons 1-4 already were streaming.

Viewers in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, the United Kingdom and Latin America can watch the new season on Prime Video in July.

Season 5, branded The Chosen: Last Supper for its theatrical release, grossed nearly $60 million at the box office. The new season follows the final days of Jesus (portrayed by Jonathan Roumie) leading up to the betrayal in the garden. Welcomed into Jerusalem as a king, He confronts corruption head-on, igniting a chain of events that rocks the city. As religious leaders plot to silence Jesus, He gathers His closest followers for one final meal. In the shadows, Judas -- the traitor -- strikes a deal.

"One of the key themes of Season 5 is: Can you trust? Can you surrender? Can you have faith even when you don't understand?" creator and director Dallas Jenkins said on a livestream this week.

He dubbed Season 5 the "most biblical season we've ever done" -- that is, the season with the most scenes straight from Scripture.

Because of that, Jenkins added, he and the writers attempted to depict the scenes in an "artistic way."

"We're trying to think: Alright, look, you've seen these stories before. What can we bring new -- not in terms of information -- but in terms of the artistic portrayal of it? How can we give you a fresh perspective?"

He added, "Of course, we always want you to read the Bible for the ultimate portrayal of how this is laid out."
