The Mandalorian Actress Gina Carano Thanks God after Disney Lawsuit Settlement

Actress and former mixed martial artist Gina Carano credited God after reaching a major settlement with Disney over her wrongful termination from the "Star Wars" spinoff series "The Mandalorian" in 2021. Carano, who played Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, announced on social media last week that she reached a settlement with Disney and Lucasfilm that she believes "is the best outcome for all parties involved."

"I hope this brings some healing to the force," she added.

She also thanked billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk for funding her lawsuit and "and asking for nothing in return."

Carano also pointed to the Lord, writing she is "humbled and grateful to God for His love and grace in this outcome."

"I am excited to flip the page and move on to the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me," she concluded.

Carano, who was fired from Disney in 2021 for expressing conservative views on social media, sued Disney and Lucasfilm in 2024 for punitive damages. She was also dropped by her casting agency, UTA.

Although Disney initially sought to dismiss the case after claiming that the company had a First Amendment right to disassociate from Carano and her views, the former MMA star claimed that Disney asserted it "will fire you if you say anything they disagree with" and will "misrepresent, malign, and mischaracterize" employees who are considered problematic.

After the settlement was reached, Disney released a statement saying that Carano was respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and that it looked forward to working with her again in "the near future," Faithwire reported.

"The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies," read Disney's statement. "Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future."
