Grain Of Wheat

February 12, 2014

Have you ever planted a garden from seeds? The seeds come in a sealed package, usually, with a perfect picture of the seeds potential on the outside. Have you ever wondered why, when you open the package, the seeds haven’t sprouted already?

Jesus gives us the answer to this question in John 12:24. He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

What Jesus was saying is that in order for us to be like Him, which is perfect, He would have to die, the same as a seed has to die in the ground in order to reproduce itself. You see, Jesus is the Son of God. He was our substitute on the cross, and in the tomb, and after the resurrection he became, to us, our Savior.

When Adam sinned, he produced more like himself, lost sinners.  We must remember we were all born in Adam.  But now, through faith in Jesus, He produces more like Himself.

2 Cor. 5:17 - “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

So, now that you are a Christian, you find yourself in a package marked “Christian” that has a picture of Jesus on the outside.

So my question to you today is this, are you still a packaged Christian, full of potential yet doing nothing, or are you a planted Christian, one who has died to self, so God can use you to serve others and to be a witness for Him. My friend, you can’t keep the seeds in the package and expect a beautiful garden to grow. Allow God to plant you today.
