Good Intentions With the Wrong Perspective - Beloved Women - January 21, 2020

READ: “Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.’ But Jesus said, ‘They need not go away; you give them something to eat.’” (Matthew 14:14-16 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: As I read this verse, I imagined the disciples were trying to tell Jesus what needed to happen. They had good intentions in wanting to ensure the crowd left the desolate place before nightfall to head back. to their villages to ensure they were fed dinner Yet Jesus had a different agenda.

Jesus told the disciples to feed the crowd because the crowd needed to be there. What we see in the verses that follow is that Jesus used the empty place as an opportunity to perform a multitude kind of miracle.

Isn’t it good to know that we don’t have to figure it all out? Jesus already had the situation worked out for the people. He sees purpose even in the desolate areas of our lives. When we think we are coming to Him empty handed, He produces a miracles to provide our needs.

PRAY: Father, I thank You for my sisters. I ask that You help us to look to You for the answers so that we are operating with Your will and not what we think needs to happen. I thank You in advance for the perspective shifts and I ask that You help us to see You in all things. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.

REFLECT: How will you be intentional to seek Jesus for His perspective on situations and not rely on your own.
