Why You Need to Pray Without Ceasing – Beloved Women – September 17, 2019
“Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV)
My family and I have been in a season of waiting and trusting God. We serve overseas as missionaries and we are due for a leave of absence but we can’t leave because we are in the middle of adopting our daughter. We have not been home in over four years to the United States so we keep praying and crying out to God. We have been encouraged to stand on the promises of God and to trust His timing. When you are in a waiting season it is not always easy.
However, through our prayers, we are reminded and strengthened to stand firm on the true character and nature of our God. He is our Jehovah Shalom - our Lord of Peace. He is our Jehovah-Jireh - the Lord will provide. He is our Jehovah-Shammah - the Lord is there. He is our El Shaddai - the all-sufficient One.
In moments when we feel weary, we are able to turn our eyes back to God and remember who He is and what He alone is capable to do. He is our God that never sleeps and hears our prayers. He calls us to pray without ceasing because He is listening and will answer in His timing, in His perfect will, and with His very best.
Lord Jesus, help us to be women that pray without ceasing. Help us where we are weary and feeling discouraged. Help us to keep our eyes on You at all times. May we trust You each step of the way and may we remember that when we pray we are communing with You. In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen.
What is it that you need to keep believing God through prayer?
