Take It To The Source Of All Power
 By Ramona Davis

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV

We keep our dog in a crate at night to limit him from the rest of the house. Schools have fences around the playground to limit the play area. Highways have speed limits. Credit cards have spending limits. Our lives are surrounded by limits.

Our prayers of faith should have no limits. Sometimes when I hear myself pray I have to ask myself this question, “who are you praying to?” Notice the lowercase “w”.

When our lives are surrounded by difficulties, it is hard to change our perspective and pray with big faith. We are often guilty of telling our God how big our problems are, rather than telling our problems how big our God is. When we do this, we put limitations on our faith.

God is MORE than able! Do you get that? He is ALL POWERFUL. He can do ANYTHING. So why aren’t we praying BIG faith, limitless prayers?

Maybe we pray little prayers, confined to our self-imposed limits, because we think that is safer. Maybe we think, “God won’t answer this prayer because, I’m asking for a miracle.” If you think about it, we are protecting ourselves from disappointment.

Maybe we have believed the lie that God doesn’t perform miracles today.

God invites us to come to His throne of grace and courageously approach Him in prayer. He desires that we seek His will, pray in accordance with His will, and pray in faith of Who He is and what He is able to do.

Scripture is full of examples of men and women who boldly prayed limitless prayers. Those prayers were followed by God’s amazing miracles.

Our lives have many limits to keep us safe, but prayer should not be one of them. On a piece of paper, list a concern that you have prayed for with limited faith. Then write a prayer asking God to forgive you for any unbelief.

Ask Him to give you fresh faith to open your eyes to His endless possibilities. Next, pray over that concern with faith that removes the limits.

Father God, forgive us when we place limits on our faith. Forgive us and help us with our unbelief. Open our eyes to You Who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could think or ask. Increase our faith and make us mighty men and women of prayer. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Matthew 21:22 NIV

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24 NIV

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV
