The Blessing of Unfairness

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD. Jeremiah 17:7 NIV

We have all caught ourselves saying or thinking, “that’s not fair.”  There are many things that can make us feel as if we are being treated unfairly.

Someone treats us in an unkind way, another person is chosen for a position that you wanted, your friend receives blessing after blessing while you are struggling to survive, someone hits your car and misses the one right next to it and we just can’t help but to think, that’s not fair.

But, what is fair?  Is it fair that Jesus died on the cross for our sins?

I wouldn’t call that fair… that is a blessing and so much more!

There have been many situations in my life where I’ve felt that God wasn’t treating me fairly.  Sometimes when we are hurting we can’t help but wonder why God is letting bad things happen to us and not saving us.

The problem is we can’t see the full picture of our life.

We don’t know what God’s plan is for us or how He is going to use each situation.  Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us a hope and a future.

As long as we know He has the plan, we just have to let Him lead and TRUST Him.  Jeremiah 17:7 tells us blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD.

Think about situations that you think or have thought of as unfair.  Can you trust God with the plan that He has for your life?  Share your feelings of why you think these situations are unfair and ask Him to help you trust Him.

Dear Lord, thank You for having a plan for our lives.  Your Word says that You have a purpose and a plan for us, to prosper us and not to harm us.  Thank You for that, Lord!  When we are in situations that seem unfair or we when we think You are being unfair, help us to stop and trust You.  The things that You’ve done for us weren’t fair… they were a blessing.  You are our example.  Help us to be more like You every day.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
