Justification

Read
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried;
it was our sorrows that weighed him down.
And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God,
a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.
All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God's paths to follow our own.
Yet the LORD laid on him
the sins of us all.

Isaiah 53:4-6

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Romans 4:25, NIV

Reflect
"Justification" is a legal term with two eternal benefits. First, you are declared "Not guilty!" Because Jesus paid the penalty for your sin on the cross, you are acquitted. Second, God declared you righteous. Because of Jesus you no longer fall short of God's perfect standard. Jesus bridged the separation between God and you. Therefore, you can have complete confidence to stand before God when you die and be welcomed into heaven. Christ's death completely covers the penalty of your sin and His righteousness is credited to you.

Respond
Spend some time today thinking about what Jesus did for you on the cross.
