The Wisdom of Practical Obedience | Psalm 111:7-10
Todayís Passage: Psalm 111:7-10
Key Verse: Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Real wisdom is not found in an elite college classroom or the training center of a Fortune 500 company. True understanding does not come by devouring books or conducting ravenous research. Neither the blogger nor the consumer of blogs is necessarily prudent.
True wisdom begins when one actionóholy reverenceóis directed to one PersonóGod. Reverence is proven by practical obedience. Spurgeon wrote, ìMen may know and be very orthodox, they may talk and be very eloquent, they may speculate and be very profound; but the best proof of their intelligence must be found in their actually doing the will of the Lord.î
The answer to the question, ìAre you a wise person?î is actually answered by a follow-up question: ìIs your reverence proven by practical obedience?î
Father, make us truly wise. Give us hearts that truly honor and revere you. Give us hands that carry out worship in practical obedience. In Jesusí name. Amen.
