Being Confident in the Lord - iBelieve Truth - June 13, 2024
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:13-14
The thing I struggle with more than anything else is confidence. I have never been a confident person despite being raised by two very confident parents. What my parents had, I wanted. However, as much as I want confidence, it has eluded me. While I have never been able to be confident in myself or my own abilities, I have found confidence in God.
By having confidence in God, I am able to be more comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone. Even though I doubt myself, I don’t doubt God. Maybe you are finding yourself in a similar situation today. You are struggling to have confidence in yourself, yet you can find confidence in God. Know that there is a wonderful and great beauty in finding your confidence in God rather than yourself because confidence in Him will never fail.
Placing confidence in God ensures that we have nothing to fear. We don’t have to trust in ourselves—we can trust in God. There is great comfort and security in knowing that God will protect us, guide us, and direct us. No longer do we need to rely on our own self-confidence as we can find confidence in Him.
Psalm 27:13-14 talks about being confident in the Lord. David says he will remain confident of the truth that he will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. The land of the living is our present Earth. While many people think God only prevails in heaven, this is not true. God rules over everything, and this includes heaven, hell, and the land of the living.
David had seen much turmoil and terrible times, yet he never doubted God’s goodness. He found comfort and confidence in knowing that the Lord would bring about His goodness across the earth. There will be a day when all of the evils of the world will be demolished. Never again will evil reign nor will there be sin.
Until this day, we need to wait on the Lord. This is exactly what David says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14). We should be strong and take heart. There will be many things in this world that will try to cause us to lose heart. The prevalence of evil, wicked people succeeding in their wicked ways, and the depravity of mankind are just a few.
However, there will be a day when we see the Lord’s goodness prevail. With our hearts of joy and gratitude, we can stand boldly for the Lord and find confidence in Him. Never will we be disheartened if we find our confidence in God.
Whatever you are struggling to have confidence for today, know that it can be found in Jesus. Maybe you are not confident about a job interview coming up or dating someone new after getting out of a long-term relationship. Give all of these concerns over to God and find comfort in Him. He will provide you with confidence the more you turn to Him.
We don’t have to possess flawless self-confidence to serve the Lord and accomplish all the things He wants for our lives. Instead, we need to have confidence in Him. Stop looking at your faults or flaws and choose to look to Jesus. You can be confident because of His proven faithfulness, support, and love.
The next time you are short on confidence, turn to the Lord. Wait on Him and take heart. Remain confident in Him and never waver. God can and will do amazing things in your life. Never doubt the wonderful things God has planned for your life. Choose to find your confidence in Him today.
Let’s pray together,
“Dear Jesus, I have never had much self-confidence, but I praise You that I can find confidence in You. Help me to be confident in You and to stop doubting each day. You are worthy of all of my praise, trust, and love. Please help me stop relying on myself and start relying on You. Thank You, Lord. Amen.”
