Roadblock on Your Road to Hell - Love Worth Finding - April 3

Roadblock on Your Road to Hell

Saturday (Day before Easter) APRIL 3

And according to the law, almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews 9:22

We must come to grips with this: the Bible is a bloody book. Cut the Bible anywhere and it will bleed. It’s not a gory story; it’s a glory story, for “the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

The theme of the Bible is Jesus Christ and His blood redemption. Two threads run all the way through from Genesis to Revelation: the scarlet thread of redemption and the golden thread of His Second Coming.

  • The night before the Israelites came out of Egypt, God told them to take the blood of a lamb and apply it to the top and sides of the doorframes of their houses. Then when the angel of death came through the land, he would pass over and spare them.
  • Years later when Joshua and Caleb came to Jericho, they told Rahab, “Tie a scarlet cord in your window. When the instruments of God’s justice come through, we will pass over your house. You’ll be safe if you’re in there.”
  • On it goes throughout the Bible, the red thread of redemption.

God put Calvary, with its blood-stained cross and its blood-drenched slopes, across the path of every hell-bound, hell-deserving sinner. And just as Rahab was delivered so long ago, so you can be. The blood of Passover’s lamb pointed to “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.

God doesn’t want you to go to hell. He put a roadblock in your path: the Cross. If you’re on that path today, Calvary stands in your way. And if you do go to hell, you’ll have to climb over Calvary to get there. What will you do with Jesus?
