Parenting by Design - September 23
1 John 4:11: "Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" (NASB).
We should be an example of God's love to our children. Parents are kids' first curriculum on God. They understand the concept of family through us and they relate those terms to the Heavenly Father and the family of God. The parent they see at home is a model for their concept of God in heaven. It is so critical that we follow after God and love each other in the same way that He loves us - sacrificially.
It is important to lead by example for our children and love those around us. Are they able to see your love for others? If they do not, they will be less inclined to show love for the people in their lives.
Be the godly example you hope your children will follow.
