I urge you, then, be imitators of me.

--1 Corinthians 4:16

Jesus Christ has called His followers to be leaders and to set an example for others to follow. The motto for a believer should be, “Do what I do,” not, “Do what I say.”

This is exactly what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4 when he tells the people of Corinth to follow his example. He didn’t say this because he was self-centered or seeking attention. He knew that he was following Christ, and he knew that if others followed him, they too would be following Christ.

Paul didn’t have any great qualifications. He wasn’t rich, powerful, or well connected. He just made it his goal to glorify Christ through his words and actions in every circumstance in which he found himself.

Let me ask you a question today: If people imitated your life, would they imitate Christ? Paul could answer “yes” to this question. Can you?
