“He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the steam beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.”
Being a dad is a tough and challenging job. It demands all kinds of courage. Scripture tells us that we are to “watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, [and] be strong” (1 Corinthians ). In that single scriptural sentence, we have the challenge to be courageous and strong. Dads who rock build their lives upon the Rock of Ages, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I saw on a television program several years ago about the southern
Of course, there was some discoloration because of smoke damage, but this house amazingly stood all alone in the midst of the other destruction. Someone discovered that the man who built this house had taken extra precautions and preparations when building it including materials such as double-paned windows, thick stucco walls, special eves, a concrete tile roof, more than enough insulation, and a solid foundation.
He prepared for earthquakes and fires, going way beyond the basic requirements to make sure his house was safer and more secure. Just like this stable home, our homes should be the place to stand as the fires of hell and the winds of culture are unleashed against our families today. Satan wants to hammer our kids senseless and while we can’t stop the fire completely from spreading, perhaps we can stop it from coming in our homes.
Dads, we can keep the fires and storms from tearing our houses down by God’s grace. We need courageous parents to provide stability and to get the job done. Jesus is the solid rock. When you build your life, your home, and your family upon Him, it will surely stand. Is your family built upon the Rock or is it on the rocks?
THE FOUNDATIONS OF YOUR FAMILY
WILL DETERMINE ITS FUTURE.
