Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to yourself that in the king's palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

--Esther 4:13-14

Most great men attribute their success to a woman… either a wife or mother… who has influenced them mightily.

And throughout history, we observe the influence of faithful and courageous women who have chosen to make a positive difference in the world, to stand for truth and righteousness, and to speak out against evil.

Some have served and labored in public places, others in obscure places, but all of them by their choice to follow Christ have changed the world.

One of these women is Esther. Her story demonstrates the power of one person’s choice — in this case, one woman’s choice to make a significant difference in the lives of those around her.

You know, a woman’s choice has become a part of the vernacular of our culture. Typically it refers to the so-called right of a woman to choose an abortion rather than to give birth to the life within her.

Yet in spite of those who may have abused the right of choice, there are many faithful women who have chosen the way of faith and the way of God. They are women of faith whose choice to follow Jesus Christ and live in obedience to him has literally changed the world.

Today, if you are a mother, I challenge you to embrace the opportunity you have to make a difference in the world and in your home by choosing to follow Jesus Christ. Because the rewards of your decision will last an eternity!
