Where to find eternal life
August 11, 2010
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
--1 John 5:12
What is eternal life? Well, that may sound like an easy question. You might quickly reply, "It's when you go to heaven after you die." And you'd be at least partly right.
But did you know that eternal life actually begins the moment you and I ask Jesus to become our Lord and Savior? So eternal life isn't just about the sweet by-and-by of heaven, but it's also about how we experience abundant life here and now.
Look at today's devotional verse. It says, "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."
This is why it is so important that you choose Christ. It's the most important decision you will ever make. When you receive Christ, his life and virtue comes to dwell within you. And it's this part of you… the part that no one but God can see… that will live on with God throughout eternity.
So let me ask you. Are you interested in having eternal life? If you are, there's only one way to possess it, and it's through receiving Christ Jesus into your life. Nothing else will do… not religion… not church alone… only the Son of God, Jesus.
He's within your reach right now. Choose Jesus and you will find life eternal!
WHEN YOU RECEIVE CHRIST,
HIS LIFE AND VIRTUE COME TO DWELL WITHIN YOU.
OUR THANKS TO YOU!
Do the words rested... peaceful... and refreshed describe you today? Or do the words stressed... rushed... and pressured better describe your way of life?
If you're like most Christians, you'd probably have to admit those last three words more accurately describe your life most of the time!
The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way... even when your life is one big pressure-cooker. And in my new book, Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out, I'll show you why.
Based on the principles from Paul's letter to the Philippians and Psalm 23, Pause: Resting in God Instead of Stressing Out will help you find true peace and rest in a world that is anything but peaceful and restful. It's the perfect "pause" button you need!
