How you can break free from sin’s prison
August 24, 2012
So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
I’ve had the opportunity on several occasions to visit prisons to minister to the inmates. One thing that haunts me every time I go is the clanging and the shutting of the doors behind me. It’s the sound of hopelessness if you’re an inmate, knowing that your freedom is gone and you’re now captive until someone else lets you go.
Now could you imagine being set free from prison after many years and saying, “No, I’d like to stay here”? Your family, friends, and freedom are waiting for you on the outside, yet you prefer those bars and walls. It does happen. People become so accustomed to that way of life that they’d rather stay there than leave.
One sad fact of many Christians I speak with today is that they’ve been set free, yet they prefer to live in captivity. They’ve accepted God’s gift of salvation, yet they’re still hanging on to their old lives with sinful patterns of behavior and missing out on the joy of following Jesus.
In Christ, you can walk in newness of life and be free from the burden of imprisonment by your sins. So live in that freedom today by embracing the new life God’s given you and enjoying the victory you’ve already been given!
LIVE IN FREEDOM OVER YOUR SIN BY EMBRACING THE NEW LIFE JESUS HAS GIVEN YOU!

Get straight, biblical answers to questions our culture is asking!
A lot of people doubt the Bible has anything good to say – much less relevant answers to questions about things like same-sex marriage and abortion. But the truth is, the Bible contains the very words of God about these subjects and so much more.
That’s why I want to send you a copy of my popular series on CD called ‘Straight Up.’
Packed with the truth of Scripture, ‘Straight Up’ will give you the tools you need to give a loving and compassionate response to our culture about issues such as:
