Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

--Philippians 3:13-14

Are you looking forward or back?

I want to encourage you today to live in view of eternity.

Consider Hebrews 12:1-2, “Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

So, the focus should be onward, upward, and into the future, living with the end in mind. Paul put it this way, “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

That’s living with eternity in view. As believers, you and I should consider every day as an investment in eternity. We should also look forward to the promise and hope of eternity.

Paul said, “My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better” (Philippians 1:23).

Are you homesick for heaven like Paul was? Most of us are willing to go to heaven, but we want to stay here for now. We live our life focused on here and now. What if you and I turned our daily affections and ambitions toward eternity with Christ?

I believe you would see more passion, excitement, and focus in your life.

AS BELIEVERS, YOU AND I SHOULD CONSIDER EVERY DAY AS AN INVESTMENT IN ETERNITY.
