No Ordinary Life - She Seeks - Week of November 24

  • 2014 Nov 24

{no ordinary life}
an inspirational entry about letting God use you

I used to wonder a lot of things about my life.

Will God ever use me? Am I really valuable to the Kingdom?

I would watch others and wish I had the boldness to be able to accomplish the greatness they seemed born to achieve.

And then I would retreat back into my safe shell, unsure of how I’d ever find my place in God’s story. I had a lot of holes inside my soul. Many of them had been caused by a belief in my own unworthiness. As a result, my life remained ordinary.

The truth is, many of us sit in this space. We want to do great things for God but we are unsure we ever will. We want to live the life of the radical, the revolutionary, the one who experiences God in a vibrant, tangible way, but we are stifled by our fears, doubts, and disbeliefs. All the while, our potential sits untouched. Our purpose never becomes realized.

As a 20-something, we often believe that the vibrant life with Jesus is best achieved in places down the road. But it is in this life season we choose to create space in our heart to find its purpose. The revolutionary life is not one found in our future. It is meant to be lived in the here, the now, the present.

"I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth." {Romans 9:17}

Maybe, today, you find yourself skeptical that God wants to use your life. Maybe you desire to live life extraordinary, but you feel held back by voids inside that won’t allow you to go there. It is a place I understand, well. But it is also a place you do not have to stay.

My friend, face the things that limit you. Look at them, honestly, and ask God to fill those holes with Him. Rest in the great purpose He has for your life. And then move forward with the belief that even in our lack, He makes our journey anything but ordinary.
