Time with God - July 6, 2012

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

When Jesus occupies the central place in your life, He welcomes you into His most intimate circle of friends!

Fix in your mind a picture of the conversation around the dinner table of a loving, healthy family. Friendly banter with people you know intimately, the events of the day discussed, laughing till your sides hurt, crying together over pain suffered, talking through thoughts and ideas, working through problems, asking someone to pass the bread. That’s the picture of this passage.

Your passion for Jesus may have grown cold. You may be living a lukewarm life. You may realize you’ve come to the place where that doesn’t even bother you much.

But now Jesus has gotten your attention. You’ve heard Him knocking, wanting back into every part of your life. Don’t let this chance to renew your love for God pass you by!

Take some time right now. Open the door. Invite Jesus in. Give Him the keys to everything. Then sit down at the dinner table and enjoy His nearness. Go on, He’s waiting at the door.
