Power Point - December 2, 2005

So they said, “Let us rise up and build.” Then they set their hands to this good work.

--Nehemiah 2:18

The people of Israel responded positively to Nehemiah’s call to rebuild the city of Jerusalem. He was certainly a man that was respected. The people saw a man they could follow and it moved them to action. He divided the segments of the wall and assigned people a place in each section to build. And in just 52 days, the wall was completed due to the cooperative effort of all.

There are three principles that I think emerge from Nehemiah 3 — participation, cooperation, and affirmation. I encourage you to read this entire text and if you do, you’ll discover 38 different names and 42 various groups recorded here in this one chapter. How many different people were involved? Preachers, politicians, single adults, craftsmen, and so on. They all participated, cooperated, and affirmed each other in their efforts!

Don’t ever let it be said that you weren’t involved when there was something great to do for God and His kingdom. Many of us want to share the victories, but not the battle. Are you sitting or serving? As long as I live, my goal will be 100 percent participation in the work of Jesus Christ! This should be your goal as well, because people are dying without Christ all across this world and we have the message of eternal life. Ask yourself: If every member of the church of Jesus Christ were just like you, what kind of church would it be?

You have a place to serve somewhere in God’s church. It may be the choir, evangelism team, prayer group, Bible study class, ministry team, or something else. Hebrews 6:10 says, “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” Are you participating? Just do it!

DO YOU HAVE A PLACE ON THE WALL IN BUILDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD?
