Power Point - January 2, 2006

January 2, 2006

This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. --Psalm 118:24

I heard about a traveler going through a small town. He stopped and asked a fellow standing on the front porch of his little house, “What is this place and what is it famous for?”

The old gentleman said, “Well, son… you can start here and go anywhere!”

There are two terrible thieves of our time: yesterday’s past and tomorrow’s problems. God has given us today — and you can start here and now and go anywhere. If you live in the past or future, you’ll never experience the joy and happiness of today — it’s very simple. The Bible says today “is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Today, you can move onward and upward for the glory of God. So, how do you live enthusiastically every day? After all, there are a lot of problems in life, pain to experience, and fears that get in the way. Today, you can determine that you will:

  • Walk with God in prayer, in the study of His Word, and in meditation of His goodness (Psalms 118:5);
  • Enjoy the little things in your life (Zechariah 4:10);
  • Do something good for somebody else just as Christ did for you (Acts 10:38);
  • Bury all of your bitterness and resentment in exchange for peace with God (Ephesians 4:31);
  • Trust God for tomorrow instead of worrying about it yourself (Proverbs 3:4-5).

God knows you by name and is in control of every aspect of your life. If you will simply give Him your past, and trust Him with today and tomorrow, you can live every day excited and enthusiastic through Him. No matter how inadequate you may feel, God can take your life and use it for His glory every day. Ask Him to take control of your life and rejoice in Him right now.

IN THE HANDS OF THE MASTER, YOU CAN REJOICE IN THE LORD FOR YOUR PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.
