Have You Considered How the Word of God Activates?

I’ve referenced the following scripture many times, and I imagine you’ve read it as well:

As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11

God’s Word brings life! John 1:1 states, God is the Word, and so it makes sense that God brings life. Jesus conquered death, physically on the cross so that we might have life and have it to the full!

Still, you ask, how does the Word activate life within us?

If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin – because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

I love how God’s Word does not return void. In fact, I have found that His Word reaches the void within me every time, bringing life from death every time!

Because we have died to sin, we are alive in Christ, and when the Word of God, which is God, speaks to our soul and to Christ within us, growth occurs every time. The eternal conversation between God and His Son is brought to the ears of our spirit, and we hear it in a way that renders us blessed by the Love and growth that occurs. God’s Word activates the attunement of our spiritual ears to the ongoing conversation of God and Jesus within us.

When God described His Word as the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. He meant it, literally. Praise Him!
