I Am Chosen - Wholly Loved - November 12

I Am Chosen

By Toni Shiloh

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12

Have you ever wanted to be picked first for that special team? Have you desperately wanted to be chosen to win a prize or an award? Or even wanted to be elected into your local government?

Only to find out you weren’t selected? You received a no and were told you just weren’t ready.

Rejection hurts.

It chips away at your insides, and if you highly valued the dream—it may even seemingly crush all your hopes.

But here’s the good news.

We were picked. We were chosen by God to be His sons and daughters. He elected us to be holy, used for His purpose, and predestined for adoption. (Ephesians 1:5)

And God waits patiently for us to accept His invitation.

He’s not like that one arrogant team lead who didn’t get the memo that you were assigned to work on a group project. No. God created the memo. He drafted a covenant with us declaring He’d be our God and we would be His people. He loves us with an everlasting love and asks that we love Him with all of our heart, mind, and soul in return.

We merely need to accept His invitation. To confess our sins and express our need for a Savior.

When we answer His call, God welcome us, gives us a new heart, makes us into a new being, and clothes us with the fruits of the Spirit.

Before “anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language” characterized our behaviors. (Colossians 3:8)

But as we daily seek God, He gradually makes us people who more accurately reflect Christ.

Today is a new day with a new chance to show that God’s holiness is at work. Let Him clothe you with the robes “compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
