A Prayer for God’s Everyday Blessings

Bible Reading:
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." - Romans 10:13

Listen or Read Below:

It was the night before I was to travel by plane for the first time since becoming a mother; a whole host of emotions were at hand. I was excited to head to a writer's conference, but I was worried about leaving my son. I was thrilled to know that a few solid nights of sleep were ahead of me, and I was just a little on edge about trusting a pilot I didn't know. It was a lot to feel all at once.

My mom and I boarded the plane with coffees in hand. As we got settled into our seats, I put on my worship music, prayed for the Lord's protection, and asked Him to show me He was with me. One of the most essential parts of our relationship with the Lord is having the boldness to ask to see Him in everyday moments. He wants us to seek Him, and He delights when we ask to see Him show up in all the details. The kindness of God that unfolded after that prayer over the next few days still leaves me speechless at times.

Before we began our descent, I looked out the window as the sun peeked through, and the shape of a heart appeared on the wall of the plane, perfectly visible from my vantage point. I knew it was the Lord. He was there. Keeping me steady and showing me His faithfulness. I let out an exhale and trusted that all would be well.

That evening, there was an open prayer time. They invited all of us women to form small groups and pray over one another. In my group of five or so ladies, we were told to pray for something to share with the woman beside us. I could hardly believe what the woman next to me said: "I know this might seem strange, but I feel like I'm supposed to trace a heart on your forehead." The tears flowed, and my mama heart, yet again, I felt seen and heard. God was there. He's always there. We must look a little more closely and have the boldness in our faith to ask to see Him.

We see these moments occur throughout Scripture. We see this in the way He revealed Himself to Abraham, Hannah, Jonah, Moses, and David in the Old Testament, and we see it repeatedly in the way Jesus showed up for those who came to know Him. He wants to show you that He is with you. He wants you to call upon the name of the Lord. This truth was declared in Romans 10:13, "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." When you call upon His name, God moves in action. Sometimes seen, and other times, it's the unseen peace that washes over you amid circumstances that would typically evoke a different emotion.

Today, call out to God. Ask Him to show up in a way that gives you the evidence that He is with you. It may be in peace, joy, and overwhelming delight. Perhaps you'll see Him in the way someone treats you, or maybe you'll see Him in the way He calls you to love someone else. His works are far greater than you can imagine; He has a deep desire to reveal Himself to you - trust Him and seek Him.

Let's pray:

Father, thank you for wanting to reveal yourself to me. What a gift of grace it is to know that the Creator of the world wants me to feel seen and loved. I pray for the boldness to ask to see you in the big and little things. Give me Kingdom eyes - ones that are looking for you wherever you have me. Give me Kingdom ears - ones that are open to hearing you and the direction of the Holy Spirit. Bless me with confidence in who you are, and please, Lord, give me glimpses of your work at hand. Please help me to be the evidence of you in all the places you have me. Thank you for being faithful in my life; I pray to be faithful with all you've given me.
In Jesus' name, amen.
