A Prayer of Protection from Enemy Attacks
By: Kristine Brown
“But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” - 2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT
Enemy attacks can come in many forms. An attack may begin with something simple, like a distraction. Too many tasks on our to-do list or the temptation of a cell phone pulling our attention away from what’s most important. An attack can also be something devastating, leaving us hurt or discouraged. Whether the enemy attacks us in big or small ways, the purpose is always the same— to prevent God’s plan from being fulfilled.
We are precious to God. He cares for us and understands everything we go through. As we journey through this life with Christ, we will experience attacks. But God’s protection will keep us secure.

In his letter to the church at Thessalonica, Paul asked the people to pray for his protection against attacks from evil. He ensured them God would “strengthen and guard” them as they continued doing the work they were called to do. In the same way, we can pray for protection when we are under attack. God was faithful then, and He is still faithful today. Let’s pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You are a “shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” (Psalm 3:3) When the enemy attacks and I feel like I can’t take another step, I run to you for safety. Thank you for your protection over me.
Sometimes I let myself get distracted by the enemy. Little by little, I allow the busyness of life to lure me away from my time with you, leaving me vulnerable to attack. Forgive me for not keeping you at the center of my life. When I put you first, you help me to stay aware of the enemy’s schemes.
Your Word says in James 4:7 when I resist the devil, he will flee from me. Thank you for this promise! Lord, you are welcome in my home, my family, and my heart. The enemy is not. I resist any attempt by the evil one to come against me. Thank you for guarding me as I continue the good work you’ve called me to do. You are a good Father, my Protector.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
