TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” – Revelation 1:8

SOMETHING TO PONDER

Lately, a common theme of extremes has been popping up in my daily quiet time. “Always,” “never,” and “everlasting” are terms only the One True God can promise and uphold. As another birthday has just come and gone as you are reading this tonight, the reality of this hits me. As our bodies slowly break down, the Lord remains the same. He has always been, and always will be …the same. It’s a simple bedrock of my faith but one that sinks deeper into my soul with every passing year.

The days rush by, and my body aches a lot more than it used to. My mind plays fickle tricks on me, trying to forget things. Motherhood has added a ton of emotions to my sensitive soul, and now my babies are looking me right in the eye. Encouraging them to chase the dreams God has placed in their hearts has reminded me to do the same.

“I am the one who is, always was, and who is still to come- the Almighty One.”

The powerful reality of each trip around the sun is the plan God has carefully constructed for each one. Every passing year brings me closer to Him, even during trying seasons when He seems a little quieter. Truly, when we seek Him, we will find Him. He never changes. He is always there. The extremely reliable, extremely powerful, extremely compassionate Father who created us specifically for something …right now. It makes getting another year older a bit more exciting. I wonder what He has in store for me and you during this next trip around the sun.

Tonight, let’s choose to embrace this stage of life for the adventure God intended it to be. A life to the full- that’s what Jesus sacrificed His life for. The older I get, the more at peace I am at relying on Him to mark out the path of each day, and show me the way. All glory up.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Father,
Thank you for your incredible goodness. You are able to accomplish the extremes that allude us. Thank you for another trip around the sun. Thank you for life, love, forgiveness, healing, and purpose. Show us the path you have marked out for us, day by day.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

THREE THINGS TO PONDER UPON

1. How many trips around the sun have you made? Take a moment to look back on all of the eras of your life, and look for His presence in each one.

2. Let God know how grateful you are for His constant presence in your life, for the sacrifice Jesus made, and the help of the Holy Spirit. Make particular note of what has been harder than normal this year, or incredibly celebratory.

3. Ask God to search your heart, and give you the proper perception and wisdom to walk through this current year according to His will for your life.
