TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE
"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." - Luke 12:7
SOMETHING TO PONDER
Did you know that the average person has between 80,000 and 150,000 hairs on their head? Amazingly, the Bible tells us that God knows the exact number of these tiny strands of decoration that adorn your head. That’s how detail-oriented our God is.
When we consider how perfectly he has constructed our world so that it is perfectly held together so that life can abound, we should feel comforted that God is no slouch. He hasn’t forgotten about us and is not apathetic towards the details that comprise our lives. He knows us.
This biblical declaration of love is meant to comfort and assure us. We can live in peace and cast out fear because our God tells us we are worth more than sparrows. He is invested in our stories and aware of our needs. Remember that God cares enough to catalog your hairs as you lie down to rest. He knows you. He loves you. And you can trust him with your life.
YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER
God,
I thank you for your declaration of love for me! I appreciate the reminder that I matter to you so much that you are even aware of the tiny details that influence who I am. I cast aside fear because I can trust you. I can trust that you are faithful in caring for me and meeting all my needs.
Amen.
THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON
1. Consider how, through God’s grace, you can exist right now: How He provides breath for your lungs. He keeps your heart beating. He knows your thoughts. You can trust him with these ordinary things, and you can also trust him with the significant concerns you have!
2. Why did God make you? What are some of the unique ways he created you that you can use for his glory?
3. Give thanks for all the ways God has provided for you.
