Your Timeline Is Safe with God
Your Nightly Prayer

TONIGHT'S SCRIPTURE

“My times are in Your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me” - Psalm 31:15

SOMETHING TO PONDER

Most of the time, many of us mistakenly believe we are in control of our time, making our own decisions, directing our own steps, and are responsible for keeping ourselves safe day in and day out. Yet, if we could only catch a glimpse into the spiritual world and really see how God and His angels are actively going before us, preparing our way, watching over, helping us, and pulling us out of danger’s way, we would recognize that our times are not our own, but in God’s hands, both when we feel in control and when we feel out of control.

No matter the circumstances, our timeline is safe with God, in His hands and under His control. Although some of us may feel like we’ve fallen behind, we missed the boat, and now it’s too late for our hopes and dreams to come true, but with God, our timeline isn’t limited, and sure and safe in His hands. Like the story of Job, during both the certain and uncertain times of his life, the wonderful and the tragic, God had His times in His hands. Whatever happened to him, whether blessing or sorrow, God knew, saw, and had him covered.

Mistakenly, many of us believe we are safe in God’s hands when our lives seem to be going well, but when hard things occur, we believe He isn’t aware or paying attention and has lifted His hand off our lives for a time. But it couldn’t be further from the truth, because God’s hand is on us in both the easy and hard and happy and sad times in our lives, every day of our lives, working it all together for our good to fulfill His purposes and plans for our lives. For most of us, it’s a difficult concept to accept and understand in this lifetime, but one day we’ll see clearly and know why our hopes and dreams seemed delayed, and why God allowed us to go through difficult, hard things we didn’t want or understand. As the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:12,

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Dear Father,
Thank you for even when I experience setbacks, disappointments, sorrow, and loss, that I can trust You with the timeline of my life, knowing it’s safe with You. Free me from feeling distraught and being worried that I’m behind schedule, or it's too late, and I’ve missed the boat. Help me to let go of fear, anxious thoughts, and hopelessness, believing You are at work in my life in ways I may not understand. Lead me in looking forward while remembering Your faithfulness in my life over the years.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

If feeling like your life is behind schedule or you’ve missed the boat, and now it’s too late to see your hopes and dreams come to pass, take a few moments to reflect on your life, looking specifically for the ways you have seen God’s hand in your situations and circumstances.
Thank God for His care over your life, both in the wonderful times and the difficult times.
When facing worry about your life and where you are now, consider letting go of fear, anxious thoughts, and hopelessness and replacing them with promises from God’s Word.
